Perkins Scouting Reservation

One of the neat things that we did on this particular campout was give thanks to the contributions to all Americans that have paid the supreme sacrifice and have made this country what it is today by retiring two American flags that flew over Sheppard Air Force Base and had deteriorated with use.  We explained why we burned our flags,  and then proceeded to retire "Old Glory" in a fitting and appropriate manner.

Old Glory being retired in a solemn ceremony

We believe this ceremony helps our Scouts understand the symbolic value of the American Flag.

We then concluded the evening by making a couple of Cobblers,   playing German Spotlight with Troop 1,  and make Smores with Mrs.  Graham ---- oh,  and busted a tent pole!  Then it was off to bed.

Two lines .... troop gear and personal gear!

The next morning the call went out by Jim Shultzz for "Two lines .... troop gear and personal gear!"  And then the Campout was over.
